Playing Games via Steam Is Just Like Owning a 9th Generation Console

Steam has been around for twenty years and it has offered computer gamers the ability to use their hardware just as if it were a console.

Valve’s software has had many faces over the years, but its main purpose during the last two decades has been to allow for the gameplay of the world’s most popular titles on devices running Microsoft Windows, macOS, iOS, Linux, and Android.

The service has had its ups and downs over the years, but it has always managed to offer something useful to its almost 135 million users.

Play Almost Every Available Video Game

Steam’s gaming community is pretty large, and it is no wonder that 70 million people log in to their Steam accounts every day in order to play one of the tens of thousands of titles available in the gaming library.

The service does not offer every game ever released of course, but it does get a high grade in terms of availability. With almost 70,000 games, it is certain that every player will find a game that will keep them busy for dozens, if not hundreds of hours.

In the Steam library, players will find anything from Final Fantasy I to the remake of Resident Evil 4, but they will not find games like those that one can play at online casinos.

If you are a fan of video poker, for example, then you will probably have to satisfy your entertainment needs by visiting a popular online casino. The websites and the applications of online casinos are populated with hundreds of different games of chance, from slots to roulette and from blackjack to craps.

Understand What You Have in Your Gaming Library

Steam offers games at pretty competitive prices and sometimes, certain games do not even come at a premium. This means that you can buy multiple games and you can have them in your personal Steam gaming library forever.

However, having too many games can lead to both positive and negative issues. The positives are that you can play something new whenever you want, and the negatives are that you do not always know how many games you own.

After a while, it may be worth considering creating a collection where you will be able to “shortlist” the games you are planning to play in the weeks or the months that will follow.

The Current Best of the Best on Steam

Putting together a list of the best available games is not easy, as there are countless amazing games already available and as there will always be new triple-A games, which will take the place of one or more “top games”.

With Steam offering a little bit of everything, it is a little bit hard to narrow down the list of with the best of the best, but regardless of all that has been released so far and of all that is scheduled for release in the coming months, there are certain games, which will probably stay in the “best game” list for a really long time.

These games are Red Dead Redemption 2, Dishonored 2, Doom Eternal, GTA 5, Monster Hunter World and Warframe. There are also online multiplayer games like FF14 and DOTA 2, which can only be considered as top contenders for being “best games”, but their online status puts them in a different video gaming category.
